I too lost the one that meant the world to me. She had also a life of suffering and she never did anything bad to anyone, yet she went through a long agony. It all happened during this season, so now holidays are blah for me. :P I learned the hard way to appreciate what I have now because everything can change in a moment. The photos you have are priceless but the memories are even more so. You look so happy in that second photo, and that is clearly due to the love and care your mother gave you so selflessly.
