For over a year, I have been trying to pursue record labels and publishing companies to do something that is rarely done officially - release a mashup legally.
I can see why people give up.
This is just the latest email exchange, with a publishing and music company that I will not name. Over a month of emails, and waiting. Mostly waiting.
When I send out one sentence replies to emails sent to me, they are not this rude...or styled like a typewriter. :P
I have tried going through the artists, manager, publishing companies, and record labels. Through connections, I have spoken to the highest people (excluding the actual artists). I would say I hit brick walls at each crossing, but that analogy is not appropriate. A brick wall is not as hard as what I have hit.
Here is a public plea.
Lionel Richie. Robert Smith. Contact me!
This mashup should not rot away for the rest of time on a few sectors of my hard drive.
