DESCRIPTION:
The common radio rule is that radio stations usually only play a song that the record label sends them. Promo CDs are made for radio. Promo CDs have radio edits...for radio. Make sense? Good.
For the 1994 Depeche Mode single "In Your Room", there was no special promotional CD single made. Radio was just sent the commercial CD single like the version fans could buy. As such, the only "radio" version of the song was Butch Vig's "Zephyr Mix". While cool, I prefer the Album Version (which is too long for radio play).
I was in a very unique position in 1994. I had the power to get my creations played on KROQ. As there was no radio edit of the Album Version of "In Your Room", I made one myself! KROQ were huge supporters of Depeche Mode, so I knew that they would play this shorted Album Version.
When "In Your Room" came up in rotation on the station (when it was originally released), occasionally you would hear my radio edit of the Album Version.
Not heard since 1994, here is my radio edit of the Album Version of "In Your Room".

The following are edits and mixes I did for KROQ FM in Los Angeles in the 90s. For the radio edits, I reworked existing remixes, using creative editing, to make more "radio friendly" (shorter) versions of the existing mixes. These mixes and edits were exclusive to KROQ, back in the days when radio stations would seek out versions of songs no other station could get.
