My mom was the queen of holidays. She had "Christmas lights", but for EVERY holiday. The apartment was always decked out with color themed lights, but Christmas and Halloween were her favorites. Because of her, I started doing "Holiday Mixes" in the early '90s. At first, I would send the mixes to friends on cassette every year. Eventually, that was upgraded to CD-Rs, and finally just posted here digitally.
Over the years, more adventurous DJs have actually played some of the mixes on the air. For the most part, these mixes were just for my friends.
When my mom died in 2006, I stopped doing these holiday mixes. Over the years, though, I have started up again. I even did a fucking great (humble brag) Halloween mix that I advise you to listen to immediately!
