Origin:
Most people know Bob Crane as Colonel Hogan from the 1960s TV show "Hogan's Heroes". He was also a DJ here in Los Angeles, hosting the morning show for KNX AM 1070 (now a 24 hour news station).
This was a rather amazing find. While digging through an estate sale, I found a 1/4" open reel tape box that simply said "Bob Crane March 1965". I'm always hunting around for obscure tapes, so buying this seemed worth the risk. Oh boy, was I right to buy this.
This is over an hour of Bob Crane's legendary radio show from March 3rd, 1965. His guests are Regis Philbin and Michael Jackson (legendary Los Angeles talk radio broadcaster, not the "king of pop"). I have left the recording intact (just did a bit of EQ and compression), so you get all the commercials and music as they aired. I wish there had been other tapes at the estate sale, since Bob teases that later in the day there would be an interview with Mrs. Martin Luther King (wow).
