Origin:
On a Sunday night in November 1996, I was listening to fellow Groove Radio employee Renee Naudin on her radio show. She was the first person I heard play "You're Not Alone" by Olive on the radio. By that Wednesday, I had already contacted the UK record label and had then FedEx me a promo CD in time for my Groove Radio 5 O'Clock Disc Drive show. Renee broke the song, and then I got it featured during "drive time".
I was an immediate fan of Olive. A solid debut album, and lots of great remixes of all of their singles.
Nearly a year later, when KROQ started (finally) playing Olive, Kevin & Bean had the band in for a quick interview and an acoustic performance of "You're Not Alone".
As I was deep in my "radio archive" phase, I had a DAT tape rolling for the broadcast, using my extreme Radio Shack (r.i.p.) antenna. Now, I have this available in two versions. This is just the song, re-edited to fix the flaw in the start of the original broadcast version. I also have the full interview and song available, but this recording keep the audio flaw at the beginning of the musical performance.
This recording has been sitting on a DAT for (looks at calendar) nearly 30 years. It's time for the recording to hit the internet. Mastered, cleaned up a touch, and available in both mp3 and FLAC. Enjoy!
