I usually get a lot of mix ideas in my head. Usually, it's only enough for a minute or so of a mix - not a full remix. With that in mind, multi-artist megamixes are a great place to dump all my little ideas into a continuous mix. This particular mix was originally done for Groove Radio here in Los Angeles back in 1996, but the station died before I could finish the mix. Some of my friends have this mix, and I thought I'd share it with you, the web leeches, as well.

The history - Groove Radio had a show called "The 5 O'Clock Disk Drive", where DJ's (usually Swedish Egil) would spin live for 25 minutes, at 5 pm (hence the name). I guested a few times, bringing mixes that I had pre-created on my Mac (I can mix live, but I wanted to give the listeners something a little more special). Another perk was that, by pre-mixing the tracks, the music director of the station had no idea what I was slipping on. This was the fourth mix in my little series of playlist breakers. Since the station died before I could finish it, I decided to make it an hour long. I would have loved to release it commercially as a real mix CD, but the licensing fees would break me.
