Back around 2003, Richard Blade worked at STAR 98.7 in Los Angeles.

Richard invited me to create a few dj sets of 80's tunes. He said he would give the discs to the program director of the station.

As it seems a waste to just have the mix sets rot away on a backup CD-R, I thought I'd put them here for you all to enjoy. This is mix set #1 (of 3). Mix set #2 was just two songs long (10 minutes), and seemed a waste to upload. Why only 10 minutes? I was instructed to do a 25 minute set, a 10 minute set, and a 20 minute set.

The set is a rather straight-forward mix set, but there were a few spots were I had a bit of fun. I didn't want to scare the program director with loads of Latin Rascal type edits, and extreme mashups. I figured I would hold off on that type of content until I had a meeting. Also, to give the illusion of how the mixes would sound on air, I made special "BRAT Mastermix - STAR 98.7" jingles (thanks to Blade slipping me a CD-R of clean jingles).

Favorite bits: The acapella ABC part, and the re-editing of Duran Duran.
